My advice - look elsewhere if you want good HDMI picture quality!
Why? Oh my, the stuttering!
Goodness knows what Samsung were thinking when they released this TV. Don't they test their products? I got this TV specificly to watch upscaled DVD from a Philips player but the HD input is terrible with horrendous stuttering. Indeed, the first starship fly in on Star Wars Phantom Menace looked like someone keeps stamping on the brakes. After trying the TV with two other players (Wharfedale & Dual) I have come to the conclusion that it is definitely the TV - particularly as scrolling banners on QVC also stutter.
The only solution is to use the component connectors (YUV) which defeats the object and is unsatisfactory for a TV by a maker such as Samsung.
I shall use this TV unitl it until it dies but will not be purchasing Samsung in the future as I find I cannot trust any company who can deliberately release a product with an obvious and glaring design fault (er, sorry, "feature")
